Since the competition in the SUV segment of Indian automotive market is on heat, Honda is on its way to join the game with its new SUV models. This article will give you some information about two Honda SUV Cars that will likely be launched soon in India by next year. Details are as followed.
1. Honda HR-V
Expected launch date: In the second half of 2021
The first one among the upcoming Honda SUV cars in India is the Honda HR-V (also named Vezel). Having been delayed several times, the SUV will arrive in India in late 2021.
Appearance-wise, the exterior of the Honda HR-V has been updated to be more sleek and trendy. It has a more impressive grille and sleeker headlamps up front. Employing a coupe stance, the SUV has a sloping roofline and thick rear appliqué connecting the taillights.
For the India market, the interiors of the HR-V will be modified. A 9-inch touchscreen infotainment display, accompanied with Android auto - Apple CarPlay - Alexa support, 8 microphones and mirror connection will be among the highlights. Other prominent features include ambient lighting, cruise control, rain sensing wipers, smart car technology, and other technologies.
Under the hood of this new Honda SUV car lies the same powertrain utilized in the Honda City Hybrid - the 1.5 litre naturally aspirated petrol that can produce 97BHP, 127 Nm at maximum together with two electric motors. Altogether, this arrangement helps the Honda HR-V reach a combined power of 108 BHP and 253 Nm of torque, with an efficiency of around 26.5 kmpl.
The expected price of this car model is Rs. 22 lakhs, a little high compared with its competitors like Kia Seltos or Hyundai Creta due to its Hybrid engine option.
2. Honda ZR-V
Expected launch date: In the first half of 2022
The other model in two Honda SUV cars to be launched in India is the Honda ZR-V, which will take over the current place of the WR-V.
Talking about design, the Honda ZR-V has a slanting bonnet. The thick piano black grille, which links the LED headlights, dominates the front fascia. The character is further enhanced by several sharp cuts and creases that stretch through the edges. The entire body cladding, as well as faux skid plates, contribute to the sporty and SUV look.
This upcoming Honda SUV car in India shares the same top expected features with the aforementioned HR-V, offering all the standard and desirable items we would like to see inside an SUV.
The Honda compact SUV will likely be powered by the 1.5-litre I-DTEC unit (99 BHP/200 Nm) with 6 speed manual gearbox, or a 1.5-litre I-VTEC petrol engine with either manual or CVT transmission. Official information is yet to be confirmed though.
According to recent rumors, Honda's latest compact SUV will be released in the first half of 2022, at a price range of around Rs 8.7-11.3 lakhs.
