Top 20 Car Sales For January 2021

While 2020 was a hell of a ride, this year is expected to be a promising year for automakers to up their game. And the sales numbers seem to signal that. Here is the list of the top 20 car sales for January 2021 in India.
As expected, the top spots in the list of 20 selling cars in India in January continued to be taken by the same old popular models from auto giants like Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai. In particular, the 4 highest-selling cars were all hatchbacks from Maruti. The first position belongs to the long-time best-selling Maruti Alto. In January, the hot hatch registered 18,260 units sold, down 3% year-on-year.
The Swift finished second in the said month with 17,180 units sold. However, the vehicle experienced a decrease of 14% in comparison to the same month of the past year. Similarly, the Baleno, which ranked fourth place with 16,648 units sold, suffered a decline of 19% year-on-year. The only model which posted a YoY growth of 13% was the WagonR in the third position. It recorded a stunning sales volume of 17,165 units.
Below is a list of the top 20 best-selling cars in the month of January 2021.
The Hyundai Creta and the Hyundai Venue were the only two SUVs that made it to the top 10 out of 20 selling models in January 2021. They both posted high YoY growth of 78% and 75% respectively. The sales volumes of the former were 12,284 units while the latter registered 11,779 units sold.
Meanwhile, new candidates such as the third-gen Hyundai i20 and Kia Sonet also successfully made it to the list. To be more specific, the Sonet held its place in the 13th position whereas the i20 came at the 14th spot. Tata Motors, on the other hand, had 3 offerings in the top 20 car sales in January 2021 with more than 60% YoY growth. They were the Nexon, Altroz, and Tiago, ranking 15th, 17th, and 19th respectively.
