1. Tata Nexon EV
Price: Rs 13.99 - 16.40 lakh*
The first electric vehicle on the list is the Tata Nexon EV which once won the Subcompact SUV of the Year Award at the 2018 edition of NDTV’s Car and Bike Awards. It is available in three variants: the XM, XZ+, and XZ+ Luz. At first sight, the 5-seater electric sub-4m SUV stands out with an impressive, sharp look. Coming to the cabin, Tata packs its handsome EV with an extensive array of high-end features on board. Some notable elements involve a semi-digital instrument cluster with a 7-inch TFT display, auto AC, auto headlamps, a sunroof, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and connected car technology. Moreover, the Nexon EV also takes advantage of an adequate safety package consisting of corner stability control, dual front airbags, and ISOFIX child seat anchors.

Performance-wise, the Tata Nexon EV employs a sturdy 30.2kWh battery. It allows the vehicle to reach from 180 to 220km in real life while it is capable of revving up to 312km per one full charge. Regarding the charging time, the Tata electric SUV can juice up from 0 to 80 percent in 60 minutes with a DC fast charger. Meanwhile, it takes 8 hours for the model to reach 100 percent from 20 percent with an AC home charger.
2. Tata Tigor EV
Price: Rs 9.58 - 9.90 lakh*
The next best EV car for 2021 is another vehicle from the Tata family, the Tigor EV. It comes in three variants: the XE+, XM+, and XT+/ While the previous model is not to everyone’s taste, the newly-upgraded Tigor witnessed some essential enhancements. Visually, it sports an elegant design accentuated by sleek halogen headlamps, impressive 14-inch alloy wheels, and charming LED tail lamps. Inside, Tata offers its 5-seater electric sub-4m sedan with an infotainment system with USB and Aux-In, a Harman sound system, climate control, steering-mounted audio control, a multi-info display, and keyless entry. On the safety fronts, it is equipped with standard features like dual airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors.

Mechanically, the Tata Tigor EV is powered by a 21.5 kWh battery pack that puts out 41PS/105Nm. With this motor in place, the electric sedan can rev up to 213km per charge. In terms of charging time, it can juice up from 0-80 percent in 2 hours with a fast charger and 0-100 percent in 11.5 hours with a regular one.
3. MG ZS EV
Price: Rs 20.99 - 24.18 lakh*
Topping off our list is the MG ZS EV. It is offered in two variants: the Excite and Exclusive. In the EV segment, the British electric model gains popularity thanks to its appealing road presence, specious and feature-rich cabin, and various charging options. In detail, MG packs its charming SUV with premium features such as an 8-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a panoramic sunroof, an inbuilt air purifier, cruise control, auto AC, projector headlamps, and connected car tech. Meanwhile, safety essentials on offer include six airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, electronic stability control (ESC), and hill descent control.

Under the hood of the MG ZS EV houses a three-phase permanent synchronous motor, assisted by a 44.5kWh HT battery that lasts for 419km on a single full charge. At the same time, it is capable of producing 145PS of max power and 353Nm of max torque. In terms of charging time, the MG electric car can take advantage of a 50kW DC fast charger and a standard 7.4 kWh wall box AC charger. While the former allows the vehicle to jazz up from 0-80 percent in 50 minutes, the latter takes up to 6-8 hours to charge from 0 to 100 percent.
