Recently, the Honda Jazz has undergone some modifications. The question once again has been raised, will the new facelift Jazz be worth the buck? In this car review Honda Jazz 2020, IndianAuto will provide you with a full insight into the new avatar of the model.

Honda Jazz 2020 Overview
Firstly introduced in 2009, the Honda Jazz was unfortunately among the least successful models in the Indian market at that time. While the market did not favor the hatchback segment that much, the way Honda ridiculously gave the poorly-equipped model such high-end prices made the sales drop even worse. As a result, Honda had to discontinue the Jazz in 2013.

The shockingly low sales tally of the Jazz was such a huge strike that it took the Japanese automaker two years to regain its confidence in the model. After understanding the market much better, in 2015, Honda reintroduced the hatchback with all-out improvements. This time, the India-spec Honda hatchback immediately received the massive attention of many domestic car enthusiasts. From the worst seller, the Honda Jazz has completely turned the tables and become one of the most popular models in Honda’s lineups. Remarkably, the model even climbs its way to the list of the top-selling hatchback cars in India.

For starters, the new facelift comes with three variants. While the Jazz V and the VX variant continue to be offered, the flagship-grade ZX has been dropped to make room for the outgoing top-spec ZX variant. Moreover, it also witnesses some tweaks on the outside, inside, and under the hood.
Honda Jazz 2020 360 View: Exterior Review
Generally speaking, the 2020 facelift has undergone subtle cosmetic changes in comparison with the 2018 version. However, the new Jazz boasts a more muscular and sportier look thanks to the latest updates, especially at the front.
Front View
First of all, the Honda hatchback comes with such notable updates upfront. In particular, the old-fashioned grille has been replaced with a stylish one with chrome inserts and some backed-out elements. Along with the iconic grille, the facelift also brings in a sleeker design with an overall LED treatment along with DRLs to the headlamps.

Side View
Moving on to the side, the 2020 Jazz continues to share the side profile with the previous model. The classic roofline, shoulder lines, and wheel arches remain unchanged. Meanwhile, the traditional 15-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels are kept.

Rear View
Coming to the rear end, the India-spec Honda hatchback brings in some significant changes. Particularly, the Jazz 2020 stands out with signature vertically stacked LED taillights. On top of that, the rear bumper has been revised to add a touch of premium-ness.

Overall, the 2020 Honda Jazz Facelift BS6 looks really on point with the mid-life refresh.
Honda Jazz 2020 Dimensions: Length, Width, Height & More
The new Jazz BS6 measures 3,989 mm in length, 1,694mm in width, and 1,544mm in height. In comparison with the current model, the 2020 facelift sports a wider body. Together with a wheelbase of 2,530mm, it allows car owners to enjoy a more comfortable ride quality. A boot space of 345-litres also provides sufficient room for luggage.

In terms of ground clearance, the Honda hatchback shares the same standard measurement of 165mm with the previous Jazz. While the ground clearance helps handle the frequent potholes of the Indian roads, a kerb weight of 1,085kg and 175/65 R15 tires facilitate seamless performance.
Brand Model Interior Review: What Does Honda Jazz 2020 Have To Offer?
Apart from exterior modifications, the 2020 Honda Jazz also comes with extra enhancements on the inside.

Seating capacity
The Jazz is a 5-seater hatchback well-known for its comfortable and spacious cabin. In the latest avatar, the model witnesses subtle renovations on the inside. For example, the new Jazz offers an additional premium black color option to the existing beige cabin. In the meantime, it also excludes the old-fashioned front seatback pockets and the leather-wrapped steering wheel.
Safety Features
For safety concerns, the new Jazz retains the ABS with EBD and dual front airbags from the current model. Additionally, it includes rear parking sensors, a rear parking camera, an anti-lock braking system, child safety locks, among others. However, the facelift version still misses such key features as the side airbag-front, side airbag-rear, and brake assist.

Comfort Features
To amplify interior comfort and driving quality, the new Honda Jazz is packed with a load of new top-notch features. One of the most significant improvements is the one-touch electric sunroof which actually makes the Jazz the first-in-segment to get a sunroof. Meanwhile, the all-new paddle shifters give it a huge advantage over the other competitors.

Moreover, the hatchback is now provided with a new Digipad 2.0 interface with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It also includes a long list of newly-added features such as auto climate control, cruise control, Honda Smart Key system with keyless entry, a push start/stop button, and a voice command feature.
In general, the Honda Jazz BS6 has many more to offer than the current one.
Honda Jazz 2020 Performance: Engine Review
With the new BS6-compliant naturally-aspirated petrol engine, the Jazz can develop 90PS of power at 6000 rpm and 110Nm of torque at 4800 rpm. It is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and gets an optional 7-step CVT transmission.
Honda Jazz 2020 Mileage: Is It fuel economy?
While the ARAI claimed mileage of the petrol CVT stands at as high as 17.1 kmpl, the petrol MT is capable of delivering 16.6 kmpl. That said, the 2020 facelifted Jazz is among the best fuel-efficient vehicles in India thus far.
Honda Jazz 2020 Cost: Is It Affordable?
The prices of the 2020 Jazz vary between Rs 7.49 Lakh and Rs 9.73 Lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). While the lowest price belongs to the Jazz V MT, the top-spec ZX CVT comes at the highest price. Although the hatchback is among the most expensive models in the segment, the price range is considered reasonable given a bunch of refined, and sometimes, second-to-none updates on the new BS6 model.
Honda Jazz 2020 Colours: How many Options?
The new Jazz Facelift is currently available in five Metallic color shades, namely the Radiant Red, Lunar Silver, Modern Steel, Platinum White, and Golden Brown.
Verdict
Overall, the new facelifted Jazz 2020 has proved itself to be a formidable opponent in the premium hatchback segment. In reality, the Honda hatchback is qualified enough to take on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Tata Altroz, Hyundai Elite i20, and Volkswagen Polo. If you are after a practical, reliable, and versatile vehicle, the Honda Jazz 2020 is definitely worth purchasing.

Reasons to buy:
Spacious cabin
Practicality and reliability
Decent ride quality, great for urban driving
Affordable maintenance and servicing cost
Reasons not to buy:
Not much improvement on its bland looks but coming at a premium price (Rs 7.50 lakh, ex-showroom New Delhi)
